To seal two or more surfaces together gaskets and Seals are generally used. To prevent the leakage of either gases or fluids, gaskets and seals are placed between specific surfaces. From a flexible material such as rubber or even cork, these seals are usually manufactured. Between the appropriate surfaces, the gasket or seal is placed, and the surfaces are then brought together and by various mechanisms, they are tightened. This has the major effect of putting pressure on the gasket or PTFE Joint Sealant Tape which then responds by sealing the two surfaces together, thus preventing leakage from the joint.
